“Why MCR Matters”
When someone on Maui hears the words “you have cancer,” the world can suddenly feel very small and very overwhelming. Appointments, treatments, travel to O‘ahu, paperwork, fear, exhaustion—it’s a lot to carry, especially on an island where resources are limited and support can feel far away.
That’s why Maui Cancer Resources was created—from the belief that healing happens in community. We are neighbors helping neighbors, offering free/donation based programs that bring hope, guidance, and care to those walking the hardest road of their lives.

Free cancer consultations with Dr. Bridget Bongaard to help patients navigate their journey
Support groups that remind people they are not alone
Cancer Healing Kitchen classes teaching healthy cooking for treatment and recovery
Day Treat retreats where survivors and caregivers can rest, connect, and rebuild
Comfort bags and volunteer visits that deliver love and relief to homes and hospitals
